COLOUR THEORY: GREY WALLPAPER

The Perks and Science Behind Using Grey Wallpaper

Sure, grey may be the only true neutral besides white and black but it’s anything but boring. Greys can range from being warm – like this Pantone Warm Grey 6C – or cooler – like this Pantone Cool Gray 4C. Regardless, it’s emotional associations range from peaceful and sophisticated af to boring, dreary and depressing. And, for some die-hard fans of the book series 50 Shades of Grey, the colour may bring out a whole other realm of emotional responses – no judgement here!

Sexy series aside, grey is the simplest colour for our eyes to process and it makes an ideal backdrop for most colours, especially bright pops in accent pieces. Plus, it has been proven that creative people are, in fact, more creative in grey environments. What does this mean for you? Creative or not, grey is a staple to have in your home and thankfully we have a wide range of grey wallpapers to suit your tastes.

A word to the wise – APPARENTLY people who live in places that have cold and wet winters do not respond favourably to grey interiors. But, we personally love grey, and you can’t tell us you don’t think these would look fabulous in your home…

So, as you can see, like every other colour, grey evokes feeling and incites emotion. It affects how we think and how we behave. Interested in learning about the effect other colours have on us all? Browse our blog to read more about the psychology of all colours!
