COLOUR THEORY: ORANGE WALLPAPER

The Perks and Science Behind Using Orange Wallpaper

The colour orange evokes strong emotion and is a colour that people seem to either love or hate. Where do you stand?

If you are on the LOVE end of the spectrum you’ll agree with Frank Sinatra who insisted, “orange is the happiest of colours”. And, with good reason. Orange was named Pantone’s Colour of the Year in 2012 and Colour Marketing Group’s Colour Alert for June of 2020. It is energizing, promotes socializing, radiates warmth and is strongly associated with autumn. And who doesn’t love the beauty of autumn (and the wardrobe that comes with it!) Plus, like red, it is known to increase appetite and sexual desire making the following orange wallpapers the perfect fit for your kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom or anywhere you want to eat or … er … get busy!

Not a fan of orange? You might be one of the people who find orange irritating in large areas and strong saturations. We can’t argue with the fact that orange is definitely a pro at capturing attention – after all, that is why it is commonly used as a safety colour. But hey, colour is personal and if it’s not up your alley, we have tons of peel and stick wallpaper prints that have zero orange in them.

Like every other colour, orange evokes feeling and incites emotion. It affects how we think and how we behave. Interested in learning about the effect other colours have on us all? Browse our blog to read more about the psychology of all colours!
